Return & Refund Policy

At Sonoma Coastal Studio, we want you to love the artwork you bring into your home. If there is a problem with your order, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve it quickly and fairly.

Standard Artwork Returns

We accept returns of standard, non-custom fine art prints and canvases when the return is requested within 7 days of delivery.

To qualify for a return, the artwork must be:

  • In the same condition in which it was received

  • Unused, unaltered, and undamaged

  • Returned with its original protective packaging whenever possible

  • Packaged securely to prevent damage during return shipping

Custom artwork and personalized products are subject to the separate custom-order policy below.

How to Request a Return

Email info@sonomacoastalstudio.com within 7 days of delivery and include:

  • Your name and order number

  • The item you would like to return

  • A brief reason for the return

  • Photos of the artwork and packaging if the item arrived damaged, defective, or incorrect

We will respond within 1–2 business days with return instructions and, when applicable, a Return Authorization number.

Please do not ship an item back before receiving return instructions.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Orders

Please inspect your order shortly after delivery.

If your artwork arrives damaged, defective, or different from what you ordered, contact us within 48 hours of delivery and include:

  • Your order number

  • Clear photos of the artwork

  • Photos showing the damage or defect

  • Photos of the shipping box, protective packaging, and shipping label

Packaging photographs help us document the issue and submit a claim to the shipping carrier.

For approved damage, defect, or incorrect-item claims, Sonoma Coastal Studio will cover the necessary return shipping and provide a replacement or full refund.

When possible, we will replace the affected artwork. If a replacement is unavailable or impractical, a refund will be issued to the original payment method.

If you were away when the package was delivered and were unable to inspect it, contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will review the circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

Return Shipping Costs

For standard returns that are not related to damage, defects, or an incorrect order, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

You may use the shipping carrier of your choice, but the package must include tracking.

Upon request, we may provide a prepaid return label. The actual cost of the label will be deducted from your refund after the amount has been confirmed with you.

Sonoma Coastal Studio will cover return shipping for approved damaged, defective, or incorrect orders.

Original shipping or delivery charges are not refundable unless the return is caused by an error by Sonoma Coastal Studio or an approved damage or defect claim.

Return Condition Requirements

Returned artwork must remain in the same format and condition in which it was delivered.

Please do not:

  • Cut, trim, fold, or permanently mount the artwork

  • Glue, varnish, paint, write on, or otherwise alter the surface

  • Add or remove hardware in a way that creates holes or damage

  • Staple, drill into, or permanently attach anything to the artwork

  • Return artwork with adhesive residue, stains, scratches, creases, dents, moisture damage, or other alterations

Carefully displaying or temporarily hanging an item for inspection is acceptable as long as it can be returned without damage or alteration.

Customers are responsible for packaging non-damaged returns securely. Refunds may be reduced or denied when an item is damaged because it was packaged improperly for return shipping.

Custom Orders

Custom canvas prints, custom fine art prints, and other personalized products are created specifically according to the customer’s selected image, dimensions, material, and finish.

Because these items are made specifically for you, custom orders are final sale and are not eligible for standard returns, refunds, or exchanges.

Custom-Order Changes and Cancellations

To request a change or cancellation, email info@sonomacoastalstudio.com within 24 hours of purchase.

We will do our best to accommodate the request when production has not yet begun. However, a change or cancellation cannot be guaranteed.

Once production has started, the order cannot normally be changed or canceled.

Damaged or Defective Custom Orders

The final-sale policy does not apply when a custom order arrives damaged, contains a verified production defect, or does not match the approved order specifications.

Contact us within 48 hours of delivery and provide:

  • Your name and order number

  • Clear photos of the complete item

  • Close-up photos showing the damage or defect

  • Photos of the packaging and shipping label

Once the issue has been verified, we will arrange a replacement. If a replacement is not reasonably possible, we will issue a refund.

Small differences in color or brightness between a digital screen and a professionally printed artwork are not automatically considered printing defects because screens display colors differently and vary in calibration and brightness.

Exchanges

We do not currently offer direct exchanges.

For eligible standard artwork, request a return within 7 days of delivery. After the return has been approved, you may place a separate order for the preferred size, material, finish, or artwork.

Custom products are not eligible for exchanges unless you contact us within 24 hours of purchase and production has not yet begun.

Refund Processing

After your approved return has been delivered to us, we will inspect it and notify you of the refund status.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method within 1–3 business days following inspection.

Your bank or card provider may require an additional 3–5 business days to post the refund to your account.

If an item is returned altered, incomplete, improperly packaged, or damaged beyond what was previously reported, we will contact you before determining whether a partial refund, repair, or other resolution is appropriate.

Return Inspection and Questions

We may document the condition of returned products with timestamped photographs when they are received.

If you have questions about the outcome of a return inspection, reply to the return email so we can review the matter with you.

Tips for a Smooth Return

  • Keep the original box and protective packaging until you are certain you are keeping the artwork.

  • Wait for return instructions before mailing anything.

  • Package the artwork carefully to prevent movement or damage.

  • Include the Return Authorization number when one is provided.

  • Always use a tracked shipping service.

  • Keep your tracking receipt until the return has been completed.
