We want you to love the art you bring into your home. If something isn’t right, we’ll help — fast and with as little hassle as possible.

Overview — general returns
We accept returns on standard (non-custom) prints and canvases within 14 days of delivery, provided items are returned in the same condition they were shipped (see “Unframed & Unaltered” below).
Custom canvas and custom fine art prints are final sale (except for damage/verified defects reported within 7 days of delivery).
How to start a return
Email info@sonomacoastalstudio.com with:
Your order number,
A short reason for the return, and
Photos of the item and packaging if it arrived damaged or defective.
We’ll reply within 1–2 business days with a Return Authorization (RA) number and instructions for shipping the item back.
Damaged, defective, or incorrect items — we’ll make it right
Please report visible damage or incorrect items within 7 days of delivery and include photos of the item and the packaging. Packaging photos help us file carrier claims and speed up the fix.
If you discover damage later, we’ll still evaluate claims reported up to 14 days of delivery on a case-by-case basis.
For approved damaged/incorrect orders we will cover return shipping and offer a full replacement or a full refund.
Return shipping & who pays
Non-damaged returns: Customers are responsible for return shipping costs. You may ship with the carrier of your choice and must provide tracking.
Prepaid label option: If you prefer, we can provide a prepaid return label and deduct the actual label cost from your refund (we’ll confirm this in the RA).
Damaged/incorrect returns: Sonoma Coastal Studio covers return shipping for approved claims.
Refunds & timing
Once we receive and inspect your returned item, refunds are issued to the original payment method within 3 business days.
Please allow your bank or card issuer an additional 3–5 business days to post the refund.
If a returned item shows signs of alteration or damage beyond normal inspection, we’ll contact you to discuss a partial refund, repair, or other resolution.
Condition required — “Unframed & Unaltered” (what that means)
Items must be returned unframed and unaltered — in the same format and condition you received them. Please do not:
cut, trim, or permanently mount the print/canvas,
glue, varnish, or write on the surface, or
permanently attach or remove hardware in a way that damages the item (holes, staples, drilled mounts).
Temporarily hanging a print to photograph it is fine as long as it is re-packed and returned without holes, adhesive residue, creases, or other damage.
Custom Order Changes & Cancellations
Custom canvas prints and custom fine art prints are made specifically to your selections (image/file, size, material, and finish), so we begin production shortly after you place your order.
Changes or cancellations: If you need to update or cancel a custom order, contact us at info@sonomacoastalstudio.com within 24 hours of purchase. We’ll do our best to accommodate the request if production has not started.
After the 24-hour window, production has typically begun and we’re unable to modify or cancel the order.
Custom orders are final sale: Because custom items are made to order, they are not eligible for returns or refunds.
Damage or defects: If your custom order arrives damaged (or there is a verified production defect), contact us within 7 days of delivery with:
your order number
clear photos of the item and the damage
photos of the packaging and shipping label
Once verified, we’ll arrange a replacement (or a refund if replacement isn’t possible).
Exchanges
We don’t currently offer direct product exchanges.
Custom orders: Custom items are final sale and not eligible for exchanges. If you need a different size/material, a new order will be required (unless you contact us within 24 hours and production has not started).
Non-custom items (standard prints): If an exchange is needed, request a return within 14 days of delivery, then place a new order once your refund has been processed.
Inspection & disputes
We document returns with timestamped photos on receipt. If you disagree with the outcome of our inspection, reply to our return email and we’ll review it together.
Helpful tips for a smooth return
Keep original packaging until your return is complete.
Include the RA number inside the package when you ship.
Ship with tracking so both of us can follow the return.
