Why Our Canvas Prints Feel Different
Every canvas at Sonoma Coastal Studio is built like a piece of gallery art, not a mass-produced poster. We’re picky about every material that goes into your print.
Heavy-Duty Gallery Stretcher Bars
Made from first-quality, precision-cut, kiln-dried pine wood
Designed as heavy-duty, gallery-depth bars for a clean, modern look
Slight bevel on the front edge for minimal canvas contact (no bar lines showing through)
Kiln drying helps the bars stay straight and resistant to warping for years
Archival Canvas
Printed on professional, archival canvas made for fine-art and photography
Acid-free and designed for long-term display without yellowing
Thick, durable surface that holds detail and color beautifully
Archival Pigment Inks
Printed with archival pigment inks (the same technology used in museum prints)
Fade-resistant for 70+ years in typical indoor conditions
Can last 100+ years in proper storage away from direct light
Deep blacks, smooth gradients, and rich, natural color
Protective Varnish Finish
Each stretched canvas is hand-coated with archival varnish
Adds UV protection, helps resist scuffs, and makes the surface easier to dust
Gives the print a finished, gallery-ready look and helps extend its life
Clean, Finished Backing
After stretching, we apply archival linen tape over the staple line on the back for a clean, professional finish.
Helps keep edges neat during handling and shipping.
Handcrafted in Santa Rosa, California
Every canvas is printed, stretched, and finished by hand in our studio. We inspect each piece before it leaves the shop, so the canvas that arrives at your door is something we’d be proud to hang in our own home—built to be enjoyed for decades, not just a few years.
